Objectives of The Partnership

Lifelong Learning Programme
This is a project into Lifelong Learning Programme Comenius, a School Partnerships SWEDENROMANIA.

OBJECTIVES

  • increase the students’ involvement in their studies – the concept of this European project comes from the students and they will work to expand it together with the teachers.
  • development, for two years, of the communication skills in English (oral and written) by effective cooperation between students, teachers and schools and by data gathering sessions through the Internet.
  • increasing students’ knowledge about the importance of water in the ecological system.
  • enhancing students’ knowledge about important Romanian and Swedish personalities for the development of science in respective country and about their role in the universal civilisation.
  • ICT skills development by communicating via the Internet, creating a common web site, research on the Internet, by working on the final products (CDs, datasheets, PowerPoint presentations, web site setup).
  • creating a platform in the form of a blog for a further development of the projects between the two countries.
  • enhancing knowledge about experimental methods (physical, biological, chemical) used to deter-mine the characteristics of aquatic systems.

SUBJECTS

  • the influence of water in the ecological system.
  • to explore differences and similarities between the two countries’ water and the importance of water in their ecological system.
  • to explore cultural and historical differences and similarities between the two countries.
  • addressed subjects are NATURAL SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, INFORMATIONAL TECHNOLOGY, MODERN LANGUAGES.

APPROACHES

  • A list of globally well-known scientists will be created by teachers and students from both partners at the beginning of the partnership. Students will be organized in small multinational teams (approx. 4 persons 2 from each side), they will choose a domain from the previously created list and they will look at famous Romanian and Swedish scientists belonging to the chosen domain whose contribution in their lifetime was exceptional, leaving a mark on European and World natural science. A small biography using ICT on a commonly agreed layout will be made on two pages for the chosen scientists. The biographies will contain some historical aspects and the background of their discoveries. The Romanian students will look at Romanian scientists and the Swedish students will discuss the Swedish scientists. In an e-mail exchange on the subject they will point out similarities and differences in the life of the chosen personalities, discussing in detail their contributions to the evelopment of modern science. In the final product the scientists will be presented side by side, giving the readers the opportunity to improve their knowledge about a certain domain by. This will be a great opportunity to make multicultural education in the form of an essay. During the class exchanges, students will try to imagine modern society without the contribution of the presented personalities, both as an English exercise and as an intercultural approach.
  • Elaboration of a collection of experimental sheets to determine the water quality.
  • Practical experiments done in the laboratory to analyze water samples coming from different eco-systems of the region.
  • The reunited biographies and the essays will represent the final products of the partnership (done on paper and in electronic form as well as a cd and a blog. In this way all three objectives will be achieved:
  1. English used in communication, information gathering and essay publishing,
  2. multicultural education by means of the biographies of personalities from two countries to be created and presented during meetings and by effective work side by side during class exchanges,
  3. ICT skills development by communication, information gathering, editing the final products as a cd and a blog of the project.
