The Garden of Thought – 2010

It is the 20th consecutive year that high school students from the second grade put their thoughts together in poetry in a booklet called The Garden of  Thought. All local high schools participate in a poetry contest. The Swedish teachers and all students from the first grade select the winners whose poems will be published in a booklet. Today they received prizes at Anderstorpsskolan‘s assembly hall. The Art students illustrated some selected poems and all the winners read their poems in public.

Every year has its own theme. The theme for this year was The Future in Our Hands. The booklet is a collaboration between the municipality of Skellefteå, various sponsors, all upper secondary schools and the school subjects: Swedish, Art and Media. Prizes are also given for best illustrations and the booklet is printed by the students attending the Media programme. The booklet is distributed free of charge to all students in the second grade and also sold to the public. It has become an important and popular tradition in Skellefteå that we look forward to every year… However, there is a risk that this year, 2010, was the last one.

  1. Great Poems of the fantastic students! It is a privilege to be their teacher! You, CREW-RO, have received a copy from 2009, there our SPID3b-students has many fine and wise poems… 🙂
