9:th of May in Simleu Silvaniei

Today, the people from our town celebrated an important day for Europe and for Romania, also. In front of the Orthodox Church from Simleu there was a ceremony dedicated to the day May the 9th. In this place the people of Simleu along with officials from the Prefecture of Salaj, the Local Council, from schools and other institutions were laying down garlands at a monument dedicated to the heroes fall down in wars, activity followed by a suite of speeches.

Then a group of pupils sang.  My daughter, Andra with other two colleagues played the violin a medieval song.

At the end a military company  was given a parade on the main street of the town.

  1. It’s seems like Europe Day 2010 is a big day in Romania with real parades, speeches and songs. In this way there is a very big difference between Sweden and Romania…
