The Swedish teachers, Hans Fritzen, Stefan Lundgren, Christina Soldan, Katarina Berglund, Eva EkbladChrister Carlsson and Dag Lernstad, and headmaster, Birgitta Lindström, had a work meeting with the CREW project.

2009/09/2
The Swedish students and their English teacher Stefan Lundgen saw a documentary about the madness concerning selling water in plastic bottles. Many of the students reacted strongly to the documentary and we hope that they will spread the message around to their family and friends to stop buying water in plastic bottles.

2009/09/4
The Swedish students and their Project Work teacher Christina Soldan started a few  projects:

  1. Investigation upon aquatic environments of the Skellefteå region (responsible Jacob Eliasson and Hannes Vikberg)
  2. Presentation of the Gulf of Bothnia (responsible Emelie Marklund and William Grenholm)
  3. The World Water Day (WWD) will be marked by organizing debates on water quality and saving different ecosystems, leaflets distribution with ecological content and publications in local newspapers about the aims of the project (responsible Olov Bergkvist and Samuel Söderlund)
  4. Hospitality in Norrland (responsible Leo Englund, Nils Bergmark, Jonas Ögren and Benjamin Karlsson)
  5. Presentation of the Skellefte river (responsible Dennis Karlsson and Isak Pettersson)
  6. The Swedish CREW film and photo team: Viktor Holmström, Erik Lundgren, Johan Lundgren and Andreas Warg

2009/09/9
The Swedish students and Susanne Öhrlund, Chemistry teacher at VUX in Skellefteå, started a project of testing the pH values of the water in the Skellefte river and Kåge river. Their message is: If you want to stay healthy, don’t drink any water from the rivers, it may  be polluted!

The Romanian and the Swedish students and some teachers started conversations on CREW, MSN and Yahoo-chat and on Facebook.

The Romanian contact person, Alina Braban, has been  to a Comenius-meeting in Bucharest.

2009/09/30
Within the international campaign CO2nnect: CO2 on the way to school, 25 students from our school (a lot of them are members of CREW) run an activity entitled The Bike Saves the Planet!. They, coordinated by the teachers (Alina Braban, Laura Mag and Alin Guler), have decided to promote this means of transport among the population of Simleu Silvaniei by organizing a Tour of Bikes on the streets of the town.

Stefan Wallgren from Örjansskolan told about his Comenius Project, BONDS (2007).

The Romanian students and their Chemistry teacher, Alina Braban, started a project testing the pH values of water. Their results are on The Results of the Analyses.

A list of Romanian and Swedish personalities has been created for the following domains: chemistry, biology and physics.

The Swedish students chose to write about Jöns Jacob Berzelius, Chemist and Natural Scientist, Carl Linnaeus (Carl von Linné), a Swedish botanist, doctor, geologist, educationalist and zoologist. Svante Arrhenius, a Swedish Scientist, Physicist and Chemist, Theodor Svedberg, a Highly Successful Swedish Chemist, Alfred Nobel, a pacifist at heart and an inventor by nature, Swedish chemist and Sten Selander – a Swedish Writer of Poetry and Essay, Translator and Botanist.

2009/11/17
The Swedish teachers, Hans Fritzen, Stefan Lundgren, Christina Soldan, Katarina Berglund (only one hour), Eva EkbladChrister Carlsson and Dag Lernstad, had a work meeting with the CREW project.

2009/11/19
The Swedish CREW film and photo team decided to make a movie – The Day After Tomorrow – so we could participate in a movie contest here in Sweden. The first prize is 30,000 Swedish kronor, which is about  €3,000! Watch it: http://vattenfilm.se/taevlingsbidrag/watch/208.html.

The Swedish teachers, Stefan, Christer, Katarina and Christina,  had an info meeting with all CREW students and their parents. The Romanian teachers Alina, Judit, and Alin were connected to Yahoo Chat Rooms and was able to quickly respond to the Swedish parents’ questions.

2009/12/1-31
The Swedish and the Romanian students wrote on the blog about December food and traditions.

The Swedish students continued the CREW-water project.

The Romanian teachers, Alina, Judit, and Alin,  had an info meeting with all CREW students and their parents.

The Swedish students and teachers have begun to plan activities for the time that Romanians are among them, in Skellefteå.

The Romanian teachers and students have started planning their trip to Sweden.

The Romanian teachers and students were involved in organizing the Comenius meeting within the other project, BIOSE – Bright Ideas On Solar Energy. They had the pleasure in Simleu Silvaniei  to be visited by 14 teachers and 23 students from six countries: Cyprus, France, Italy, GermanySpain and Turkey. For a whole week Anderstorpsskolan was very busy with activities and exhibitions, the topic being the work against drugs of any kind. Read more on Give Hugs – Not Drugs!

2010/02/1
The Swedish students and teachers have begun to implement the CREW project in the school subjects Swedish C and Geography. The Romanians have helped them with valuable information via blog and email.

2010/02/13
Being curious how drinking water comes to our taps at home, the Romanian students and teachers decided to make a visit to the place where the water is stored, treated and pumped to our town. The lake and the water treatment plant from Vârşolţ is located at about 12 km away from Şimleu Silvaniei.

The Swedish teachers have had a planning meeting on Romanians’ visit, the 16-26/3. Parents have been informed by mail.

Both the Swedes and Romanians have updated the blog with current traditions and ceremonies.

Both Swedish and Romanian students and teachers have prepared for the Romanians’ travel to  Sweden, 16/3-26/3.

Both Swedish and Romanian students and teachers have been working on the planning of The World Water Day (WWD), 22/3 and a second project work exhibition, 25/3 which will take place at Anderstorpsskolan.

Both Swedish and Romanian students have been occupied learning the respective languages for at least 20 h.

The Swedish students tested seven different water samples, water from clean snow in the middle of the forest, water from an ice machine, water from a small street where there isn’t that much traffic, water from dirty snow along E4 where there is heavy traffic, water from an aquarium, hot water and cold water: Water sample preparations.

Both Swedes and Romanians celebrated the The World Water Day (WWD) together at AnderstorpsskolanDay 7 (Monday). The Swedish contact person, Christina Soldan, created The World’s Longest Toilet Queue but without any success, unfortunately… We received very few visitors at the activity, just a few students and teachers.

Both Swedes and Romanians met a local politician, Ann-Christin Westerlund, and the school chief Jan Midlert and they presented their CREW-project and the CREW-blog to them: Day 9 (Wednesday).

The Swedish team published Today’s applause… to all who helped them to succeed with their activities when the Romanians were in Sweden, local newspaper Norran, Wednesday, 31 March 2010.

Both the Swedes and Romanians have updated the blog with the current traditions, ceremonies and with interesting information on the history of the languages and on the ancient population of the two countries, the  Dacians and the Vikings.

The Romanian students wrote on the blog about some Romanian personalities: Henri Marie Coandă, Romanian Academic, Engineer, Inventor, Aerodynamics Pioneer and Builder of the World’s First Jet Powered Aircraft, Ştefan Procopiu, Ambassador of Romanian Science, Doctor in Physics and Writer and George Emil Palade, Romanian-American Cell Biologist and Nobel Laureate

Andreas Skog namned us on Sverige Radio – Västerbotten, URL: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/play.aspx?ljud=2987390&t=80. Erik Burstrand, our school main headmaster, submits the annual report to the High School Office (Gymnasiekontoret). The repport contained little about CREW in both text, images and sampled from the local newspaper Norra Västerbotten. In this way we presented our final results were disseminated information to the local authorities and the other schools in our town Skellefteå, but also all over Sweden, like in our joint planning from 03/14/2011.

The Swedish students presented on our common blog their results from implementing the CREW-project in the school subject of computer knowledge, all waters around our Skellefteå (Skellefte river, Kåge river, etc.) and some Romanian waters (Crasna river, The Black Sea, etc.).

The Swedish students celebrated the International Environment Day at Dag Lernstad, on his farm in Medle (a small village near Skellefteå), by going around, watching and claping for his animals, listening to his lecture, eating organic food together and playing games.

2011/06/23-24
The Romanian students presented their experimental sheets for water analysis on our common blog.

PowerPoint presentations were made by the Romanian students, of the experiments (and their results) done in the schools.

The Romanian students analysed and compared our common findings and also compiled biographies of Romanian and Swedish personalities in a booklet. We tried to make it together during our visit to Romania, but we had no access to the internet, unfortunately. Our Romanian friends completed them and then they published the results on the blog, according to Alina Braban in an e-mail.
